The real power of the Momentum Up filter is in its real-time ranking of the top performing stocks once the above criteria is met. The Momentum Up filter’s ranking criteria is based on a composite of the following: highest positive percent change from the opening price, highest positive net change from the opening price, highest volume, and highest volume average percent. The Momentum Up filter is very closely related to the Rank Up filter in that both filters use the same rules and ranking criteria; however, Momentum Up uses a proprietary algorithm developed by Neovest, Inc. that determines how the end symbols are sorted. Whereas Rank Up is designed to find stocks with the highest composite ranking on the day, Momentum Up is designed to find stocks that have changed the most in the last five minutes, with special weighting given to the most recent changes. In short, this filter is an extremely effective tool in immediately finding and alerting traders to intraday momentum movers. The first stocks generated in the list will possess the most immediate upside momentum.
